South Beach Miami Hospitals

South Beach Miami Hospitals
Miami’s hospital systems provide residents with some of the finest care in Florida. Our city boasts two major networks: the Jackson Health System and Baptist Health South Florida.
The world holds our health system in such high regard that it’s not uncommon for visitors to travel internationally to Miami to receive inpatient care in our region.

The University of Miami’s Jackson Health System provides a wide variety of services to residents located throughout Miami. In addition to their full-service hospitals, Jackson offers a children’s hospital, rehabilitation hospital and primary care facilities scattered around the region. The top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is collocated with Jackson Memorial Hospital. Jackson also ranks in the top hospitals nationwide for ENT care, geriatrics, hormonal disorders, kidney disease, neurology/neurosurgery, and urology.

Jackson’s three main campuses are:

    * Jackson Memorial Hospital (1611 NW 12th Avenue, Miami)
    * Jackson South Community Hospital (9333 SW 152nd Street, Miami)
    * Jackson North Medical Center (160 NW 170th Street, North Miami Beach)

The second major health system in the region is Baptist Health South Florida. I welcomed two of my three children into the world at Baptist Hospital and was especially pleased with the service, comfort and knowledge of the medical staff. In addition to regular hospital services, the Baptist system boasts a children’s hospital, pediatric emergency room, cardiac institute and a number of urgent care centers throughout the region.

The hospitals of the Baptist system include:

    * Baptist Hospital (8900 North Kendall Drive, Miami)
    * Doctors Hospital (5000 University Drive, Coral Gables)
    * Homestead Hospital (160 NW 13th Street, Homestead)
    * South Miami Hospital (6200 SW 73rd Street, South Miami)

In addition to these major systems, our community also boasts a number of other exceptional medical facilities. Miami Children’s Hospital (3100 SW 62nd Avenue, Miami) is the area’s only dedicated, freestanding children’s hospital. One of Miami’s crown jewels, MCH received a 26th place nationwide ranking in Child magazine’s survey of children’s hospitals. The magazine also recognized MCH as the 10th best pediatric emergency room in the country.

Mount Sinai Medical Center (4300 Alton Road, Miami Beach) is the largest hospital on Miami Beach. They specialize in cardiology, oncology/cancer services, orthopedics and Alzheimer’s disease.

Larkin Community Hospital (7031 SW 62nd Avenue, South Miami) offers South Miami residents full hospital services, including an emergency room and a specialized arthritis treatment program.

Kendall Regional Medical Center (11750 SW 40th Street, Miami) is a convenient alternative to the major hospital systems for residents of southwest Dade county. It’s located right off the Florida Turnpike. KRMC specializes in emergency medicine, cardiac care and pediatrics.

University of Miami Hospital (1400 NW 12th Avenue, Miami) is located in downtown Miami. UM’s capacity includes 560 beds and they specialize in cardiac care, orthopedic services and urology.

Mercy Hospital (3663 South Miami Avenue, Miami) is located conveniently for residents of Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and downtown Miami. In addition to standard acute care, Mercy hosts a cardiac institute, cancer center, orthopedic institute and a minimally invasive surgery center.
